Nova Drive Roadway Improvements
Nova Drive Roadway Improvements from Davie Road to SW 76th Avenue
Two Week Project Outlook:
the Contractor has received County approval to implement paving operations for the north side of Nova Drive between Davie Road and College Avenue during the night to minimize traffic impacts in the corridor. The Contractor is scheduling the paving operations between 9 pm and 6 am starting Sunday evening of January 27. The duration of paving this road segment is expected to take 3 weeks. A shift in traffic to the north side is anticipated to occur 2 weeks into the schedule. Which will further improve and simplify access to the Plaza, as construction activities will then be concentrated on the south half of the roadway once this segment of paving is completed.
during the daytime, construction activities will include the installation of the street lighting electrical conduit.
The project is still 2 to 3 months away from moving to the next construction phase west of College Avenue. Final completion of the project is scheduled for late November, with the road construction anticipated to be completed in August prior to the beginning of next school year.
Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. is anticipated to start construction the second week of September 2018 on Nova Drive beginning east at Davie Road and progressing west to SW 76th Avenue. The work is expected to be completed November 2019.
The scope of the work consists of widening the existing multi-lane road configuration throughout the corridor to accommodate a combination of shared and designated bike lanes, intermittent landscape medians, turn lanes and the construction of a traffic roundabout 200ft west of SW 71st Terrace together with the expansion to a four lane divided section with landscape medians from Davie Road to College Avenue. Existing drainage facilities will be modified and new drainage facilities will be added. New sidewalks, curbing, curb ramps, roadway lighting, landscaping with irrigation, new signalization, as well as road construction, milling, resurfacing, and new pavement markings and signage will be constructed.
Traffic will be impacted throughout the duration of the project. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes other than Nova Drive to their destinations, whenever possible. Two lane, bi-directional traffic will be maintained whenever feasible, however, there will be periods where traffic will be reduced to a shared single lane with flag personnel or a road closure with traffic detour signs. Please expect delays.
Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. We apologize for any inconvenience as we complete these improvements in your neighborhood.
