The Davie Police Department employs a strategy of utilizing crime statistics and interpretation of those statistics in order to help keep our community as safe as possible. Our crime analysts utilize a variety of computer programs and evaluation tools to provide up-to-the-minute statistical data to our officers, detectives, and supervisors in order to better equip them. Through predictive analysis (utilizing prior crime trend information to predict the likelihood of a future crime), our analysts provide an invaluable service to the residents, business owners, and visitors of the Town of Davie. This information has helped reduce the number of reported “index” crimes (robberies, larcenies, etc.) in the Town throughout the past several years.
In addition, our records department and crime analysis personnel provide crime data to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR). The UCR program was implemented in 1929, and serves as a national information center for crime statistics. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement compiles and stores crime data by county and local jurisdiction, as well.
