Three Ways to Have a Lucky Spring Season in the Town of Davie

March 2023

March is the season of spring and new beginnings, but do you have the luck of the Irish on your side this year?

Go on a journey across the Town of Davie in search for your lucky talisman with three fun-filled activities.

1. Incorporate the Ultimate Davie Lucky Charm at Home

Horseshoes are practical pieces of iron that help protect horses’ feet, which is especially useful for those walking ourequestrian trails. However, hanging a horseshoe atop an entryway is believed to have the power to ward off evil and bring good luck.

As you begin your spring cleaning, save an old horseshoe to hang up in your entrance for a bit of extra good luck. Nail the horseshoe upwards to hold the good luck inside the horseshoe or downwards to let all that luck flow out onto you when you walk underneath!

Can’t decide on which piece of iron to hang? It is believed that the luckiest of horseshoes is the one that comes from a gray mare’s hind feet!

2. Take a Picture with a Rabbit

Feeling as if bad luck is following you and your family around? Snap it away with a picture at our Hippity Hoppity Egg Hunt taking place on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bamford Sports Complex, 3801 S. Pine Island Road.

Taking a picture with our very own Peter Cottontail and finding lucky easter eggs filled with all sorts of goodies is sure to brighten up anyone’s day. This event is free for Davie residents and the bunnies themselves are often believed to bring good luck thanks to their lucky foot.

Don’t forget to also bring a bathing suit for the Splash and Dash event happening after the egg hunt from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center. For more information, call 954-797-1145.

3. Go on a Hunt for a Four-Leaf Clover

As luck would have it, the four-leaf clover or shamrock is symbolic of luck for its rarity. Clovers can be found across the globe, and probably in your Davie backyard or right at our parks!

Go on a hunt at a Town park in search of a four-leaf clover today. To find your nearest park, visit www.davie-fl.gov/ParkTrailMaps.

Fun Fact: Each leaf represents something different, including hope, faith, love and luck. If you manage to find a five-leaf clover (yes, they in fact do exist) it is believed to bring extra good luck and attract money.

Whether it’s your 4-year unwashed gym socks stored in a time capsule in your back yard or a retired racing horseshoe hanging atop your barn door, lady luck is sure to always be on your side this spring!
