DAVIE’S FIRE STATION 86 AND SHENANDOAH COMMUNITY CENTER NOW OPEN

DAVIE, Fla. - The Town of Davie Fire Station 86 and the Shenandoah Community Center are officially open and ready to provide service to the northwest portions of Davie. This addition will serve as the Town’s sixth fire rescue station.

With over 14,000 square feet and equipped with energy-efficient lighting, this building is located at the corner of Southwest 130th Avenue and SW 14th Street. It is geographically located to enhance response times to Davie’s growing community.

A community-wide grand opening celebration was held on March 6, 2020, to welcome the new fire station and community center.

Home to two advanced life support (ALS) units - Rescue 86 and Engine 86, the station will house a minimum of five firefighters/paramedics and is in line with the town’s goals of providing faster emergency response and disaster preparedness.

Built with the use of rated building materials such as filled cell concrete block walls, steel roof trusses, metal roofing, and impact-resistant windows, this building was designed to withstand winds over 157 mph and will be utilized as an emergency operations location during disasters.

“It’s a great feeling to see the fire station come to fruition,” Fire Chief Julie Downey said. “Seeing everyone come together to mark the opening of this station meant as much to me as I’m sure it did the community. Not only will this station provide improved emergency response time, it’s an extension of all the things that makes Davie such an amazing place for our residents to live.”
