1. Why did the Town of Davie implement this program?

As you can see from the above information, red-light running is a serious problem throughout the nation. This program has been implemented in Davie to reduce the number of red light violations which will translate into fewer crashes, fewer injuries, and fewer fatalities. Our goal is to increase the awareness of the danger of running red lights and improve the safety of everyone traveling through the town.

2. What is a red light violation?

A red light violation occurs when a driver enters an intersection after the traffic signal has turned to a steady red.

3. What delineates an intersection?

Section 316.003 of the Florida Statutes define intersection as follows:

(17) INTERSECTION.—

(a) The area embraced within the prolongation or connection of the lateral curblines; or, if none, then the lateral boundary lines of the roadways of two highways which join one another at, or approximately at, right angles; or the area within which vehicles traveling upon different highways joining at any other angle may come in conflict.
